A "MARY" CHRISTMAS CD

A “MARY” CHRISTMAS

Words & Music by Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

Mary, Mary, quite contrary how does my garden grow

With chestnuts & holly & mistletoe

Those silver bells and cockled shells have really got to go

I was never fond of pretty maids all in a row.

We’re going to have “Mary” Christmas!

REFRAIN
We’re going to have a “Mary” Christmas!
We’re going to have a “Mary” Christmas!

So come and sing along and have a merry time with me

Gather round and have some fun with friends and family

We’re going to have a “Mary” Christmas!

Mary had a little lamb whose fleece was white as snow

And everywhere that Mary went the lamb was sure to go

He followed her to Bethlehem, and if you want to know,

I bet this little lamb was in that manger long ago.

REFRAIN

Well I’m Mary and I’m Merry, that’s a merry way to be

I feel merry when you’re merry as we decorate the tree

So Merry Christmas, spend time with family

Be merry as I’m Mary and we’ll all sing merrily

MY LITTLE KING

Words & Music Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

Joseph and I must leave our own abode,
and travel into Bethlehem - a long and weary road.
The taxes must be paid. This seems a daunting task.
I’m great with child, my time is near - humbly I ask

Help me. Guide me.
Let me feel thy love inside me.
Strengthen me that I’ll fulfill,
Thy call to serve and do thy will.

My tired feet and aching back give way to greater pain
We search for shelter - many Inns - Joseph tries in vain.
There is no room in Bethlehem to lay my weary head
A manger filled with animals is where I’ll make my bed.

Help me. Guide me.
Let me feel thy love inside me
Strengthen me that I might see
beauty now surrounding me.

I gaze upon my little king and hold him oh, so tight
This miracle has filled my soul with love and greater light.
I’m mother now, and I must feed and care and teach and love
And so inside this manger, I ask help from above.

Help me. Guide me.
Let me feel thy love inside me
Strengthen me that I might bring
comfort to my little king.

MY SOUL DOTH MAGNIFY THE LORD
AND MY SPIRIT HATH REJOICED IN GOD MY SAVIOUR

This king I have delivered will now deliver you
He comes into this world with Father’s work to do
I hold my little king, a babe, and mother him tonight
I give my precious gift to you - he brings eternal life.

Help her. Guide her.
Let thy spirit now abide her.
My heart swells, the angels sing
I give the world my little king.

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR - lyrics by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne

JINGLE BELLS - traditional
Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh - Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way

Bells on bobtail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight

SNOWFLAKE AND EVERGREEN

Words & music by Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

Evergreen is a little elf with lovely, pointed ears
Evergreen and Snowflake have been best friends for years.
Now Evergreen is jolly, He’s happy all the day
But Evergreen and Snowflake are happiest at play.

Oh, Snowflake and Evergreen are the happiest elves you’ve ever seen
Evergreen and Snowflake, Snowflake and Evergreen
Snowflake and Evergreen are the happiest elves you’ve ever seen

Well Evergreen and Snowflake are Santa’s favourite elves
Snowflake and Evergreen stock toys on Santa’s shelves
Snowflake works with Evergreen.  They’re busy all the day
Busy making Santa’s toys to load upon his sleigh.

Snowflake and Evergreen Are the busiest elves you’ve ever seen
Evergreen and Snowflake, Snowflake and Evergreen
Snowflake and Evergreen Are the busiest elves you’ve ever seen

Now Snowflake and Evergreen love Christmas time the best
Evergreen and Snowflake take Christmas Day to rest
Snowflake, I say Snowflake, curls up with Evergreen
And sleeps upon his shoulder, the cutest elves you’ve seen!

Snowflake and Evergreen Are the cutest elves you’ve ever seen
Evergreen and Snowflake, Snowflake and Evergreen
Snowflake and Evergreen Are the cutest elves you’ve ever seen

THE THING
Traditional – revised words by Mary Lambert

While I was sneaking down the stairs one snowy Christmas Eve,
I spied a great big shiny box right beneath the tree,
I pulled it out and opened it up and much to my surprise;
Oh, I discovered a XXX right before my eyes,

I picked it up and ran to town as happy as a king.
I took it to a guy I know who’d buy most anything.
But this is what he hollered at me as I walked in his shop.
Oh, get out of here with that XXX before I call a cop.

I turned around and got right out runnin’ for my life,
I took it to my neighbour, but all I got was strife.
This is what she hollered at me as I walked in the door.
Oh, get out of here with that XXX and don’t come back no more.

I wandered all around the town until I chanced to meet,
Santa and his reindeer parked upon the street
He said he’d take most any old thing, he was a jolly man
But, when I showed him the XXX, he turned around and ran.

The moral of the story – is so very plain to see
When’ere you spy a shiny box beneath the Christmas tree
Don’t ever sneak and open it up, that’s my advice to you
‘Cause you’ll never get rid of the XXX, no matter what you do.

AWAY IN A MANGER - (traditional)
Away in a manger
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down his sweet head
the star in the heavens
looked down where he lay
the little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
the poor baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying he makes
I love thee Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
and stay by my cradle
’til morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus
I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever
and love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
in thy tender care
And fit us for Heaven to live with thee there

Asleep, asleep - Asleep, asleep
Asleep the Saviour in a stall
Asleep, asleep - Asleep, asleep
Asleep the Lord of all…..

I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS - Tommie Connor

S.A.N.T.A.
S.A.N.T.A.
S.A.N.T.A.
and Santa is his name .... HO!

SANTA’S SUMMER HOME

Words & music by Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

Santa’s Village is the place to be in the good old summertime
Santa makes his home here. He thinks it is sublime!
His reindeer fly him southward and land along the rivers edge
Mrs. Claus and Santa come to the little town of Bracebridge.

His reindeer love the visitors who watch and feed with care
Tiny faces smile with glee and wander everywhere.
Lots of rides and restaurants and music shows to see
Be sure to visit Santa’s home and sit upon his knee

Santa’s train is colourful with Christmas red and green
You’ll hear an Elf yell “All Aboard” as kids are waiting keen
Then Santa’s train goes clickety clack along the noisy track
All around the village until we’re safely back.

Santa stays all summer long ‘til kids return to school
He gets a little lonely as the weather starts to cool
So Santa and his reindeer begin their northward climb
Back up to the North Pole, to wait ‘for Christmastime.

CHORUS
At Santa’s Village - Santa’s summer home
Santa Claus goes “HO HO” (hands in front of belly)
You can feed the reindeer “SSSsslp”(cup a hand and hold out)
You’ll hear an elf yell “All Aboard” (thumb up in the air)
Santa’s Train goes “Clickety Clack” (arms rotate around like train wheels)
Mrs. Santa says “Hi kids” (a nice wave from down to up)
At Santa’s Village - Santa’s summer home.

SILENT NIGHT- Traditional

Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm. All is bright.
‘Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in Heavenly peace
Sleep in Heavenly peace

Silent night! Holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight!
Glories stream from heaven afar;
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Savior is born!
Christ, the Savior is born!

Silent night! Holy night!
Son of God, love’s pure light!
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth

FAMILY FUN CD

BIG BLUE RIDE
Words & music by Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

CHORUS
We're all goin' on a Big Blue ride - singin' Bomp de bomp de bomp bomp bomp
All together, sittin' side by side - singing Bomp de bomp de bomp bomp bomp
Gumpo takes us down Killer Run - Singing Bomp de bomp de bomp bomp bomp
Scream real loud, this is so much fun - Singin Bomp de bomp de bomp bomp bomp

The weather is warming, the snow is all gone
Trees are budding, hear the frogs in the pond
Grammy's outside sweeping dirt off the road,
Gumpo's bringing from the bush a heavy load.
He's tappin' maple trees and pouring sap into pots
Maple syrup’s done when its boiled lots & lots
Trail is wet and mucky, as we travel along
We're goin' to the sugar shack and singin' our song.

When summer is here, the days are nice and hot
We like to visit Grammmy & Gumpo a lot
Gumpo likes the basement - it keeps him cool
Grammy finds relief when she swims in the pool
"Just like duck soup" is her favourite line
As she emerges from the water feelin' fine.
Gumpo takes a break and gives a big blue ride
The trail is dry and dusty with mosquitos & flies.

Fall is the time we all go back to school,
The visitors leave as the weather starts to cool.
Grammy & Gumpo are busy as a rule,
Harvesting the vegetables and coverin' the pool
The leaves are changing colour as they fall to the ground
We rake 'em into piles and we jump all around.
Big Blue revs, we hop on without a care
The smell of fall is heavy in the air.

Gumpo says its time to put big blue away
Only for the season, cause winters here to stay
Pond is frozen over, snows all over the ground
No leaves on the trees, no frogs to be found
Grammy's busy baking cookies and pies
lots of family coming home at Christmas time
The trails are full of squirrel and deer tracks too
We know cause in the winter Gumpo takes us by skidoo.

ADOPTION MEANS....

Words & Music by Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

CHORUS
Adoption means that you will be
A member of our family
Adoption means that we love you
Always...our whole lives through.

Adoption means that you didn’t grow inside my tummy
Instead you grew inside my heart, and now you call me mommy.
It makes no difference how you came but only that you’re here
From heavens home to our home - we always felt you near.

I always felt a little empty place within my heart.
We chose you, now you’re with us - you have filled that special part
Daddies are important, so I’m glad that I can be
Here to love and guide you, together you and me.

Adoption means that now you have two sisters and a brother
Adoption means that we all learn to share with one another
We argue & we fight, and we are glad that we can be
A really truly, funny, grumpy, happy family.

WHERE'S MY FLICKER!!!!

Mary Lambert - (c) SOCAN

Most Canadian men I know, have an ailment like no other
It makes no difference whether he is husband, dad or brother.
It doesn't seem to matter if he's short, tall, thin or plump
The symptoms are the same for all - he sits upon his rump

And he says
WHERE'S MY FLICKER?!!!!

Oh, oh, He's got Chronic interdigital remote control fidgetal flicker clickeritis
That's chronic interdigital remote control fidgetal, flicker, clickeritis.
This terrible disease can make him insane if you he loses his flicker again and again
That's chronic interdigital remote control fidgetal flicker clickeritis.

His eyes are dazed, mouth ajar, he's really in his glory
Sports events, or comedy, another newsroom story
But hold on tight, its commercial time, no flicker to be found
He tears the cushions off the couch and crawls around the ground.

And he says
WHERE'S MY FLICKER?!!!!!

No flicker in the cushions, no flicker in the drawer
No flicker underneath the couch, we all must look some more
We find it in the bathroom, and our lives go back to normal
I've finally concluded that this illness is hormonal!

WHERE'S MY FLICKER?!!!

WHAT TO DO?

Words and music by Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN 1998

Maybe you're thinking there's nothing to do
'Cept sitting around a watching the tube
You don't exercise, 'cause you just hate to run
There're plenty of things you can do that are fun

Well there's
Basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, roller blades, badminton, boxercise, horsebackriding, judo line-dancing, racquetball, weight-lifting, trampoline, wrestling and yoga - let's keep on the move,
Then there's skating and swimming and skipping and walking, aerobics, canoeing and cycling too, also soccer and baseball and football and rugby, lacrosse and kayaking are great things to do.

Basketball's fun 'cause you're playing a game
And with it sometimes you get fortune and fame
Just dribble and run and you'll work up a sweat
And pray that the ball will go into the net
CHORUS

Skipping is great 'cause you're up and your down
It gets that heart pumpin' around and around
You can skip all alone, or can skip with a friend
Just do it and do it, again and again
CHORUS

Boxing's your sport if you're loving a fight
Stay light on your toes and then jab left and right
Get off of the streets and get into the ring
Hey, who knows someday maybe you will be king!
CHORUS

Running and jogging are great for your heart
Your lungs and your muscles and legs all take part
If you're running a sprint or your distance is long
Just keep moving those feet and you'll never go wrong.
CHORUS

MONSTER METHUSELAH

Mary Lambert (c) SOCAN

My friend moved out of the house next door,
some new neighbour moved in that I thought was a bore
But when my mama went by to be a welcome host,
She came home kinda funny and was white as a ghost
Well, there's no way my mama is a scaredy cat
Something happened over there and that's a fact
Her arms started Twitchin and her hands to shake
Was like a witches spell that nobody could break
She went like this - CHORUS
Lawdy da, mmmm hmmmm, oh boy, hot stuff (Repeat 4 times)

She tried to explain it, but the words wouldn't come,
So, I went right over to see what had been done.
I knocked on the door and what to my surprise,
It opened up wide and right before my eyes......
Stood Monster Methuselah who's really absurd
She tries to control it, but she's got to be heard
Her arms start a twitchin’ and her hands to shake
It's like a witches spell that nobody can break.
She goes like this - CHORUS

I said "Monster Methuselah, what is this dance?"
"You're out of control, it's like your in a trance."
She says "I can't help myself, it's in my blood.
I would end it all right now if I thought I could."
Well Monster Methuselah is really unique
I wanted to help her, but when I went to speak
My arms started twitchin' and my hands to shake
Was like a witches spell that nobody can break.
I went like this - CHORUS

Well, then I took Methuselah to see my shrink
I said "Oh, Dr., Dr., what do you think?"
His eyes got kind a glossy then without a sound
his knees got really shaky and he fell to the ground.
Then my Dr. Dr. got up off the floor
He looked at Methuselah and ran for the door
But his arms started twitchin' and his hands to shake
Was like a witches spell that nobody could break.
He went like this - CHORUS

So now I bring Methuselah to all of you
To finally get some help and see what you can do
But I see now that I'm a wastin’ my time
Cause your rockin’ and your rollin' and the spell is sublime.
Now everybody here is acting quite absurd
You try to control it, but you've got to be heard
Your arms start a twitchin' and your hands to shake
It's like a witches spell that nobody can break.
You go like this - CHORUS
